In this guide, we’ll install the official OpenVPN Connect app, enable a Kill Switch, and import your ChitaVPN config. 

   

Download and Install the App

     

To get started with OpenVPN Connect on your windows, follow these steps:

   

1. Visit the official OpenVPN website, then go to the Windows tab. From there, click on the ‘Download OpenVPN Connect for Windows’ button to download the Setup ( exe. )  file.

     

 

2. Double-Click on the .exe file to launch the OpenVPN installer, then follow the prompts to complete the installation.

     

 

3. Click on the "Next" button and Click on "Accept the terms" option and then again press the "NEXT" to follow the installation.

     

4. Click on "Install" and wait for the installation process to complete.

     

5. Once the installation is complete, click on the "Finish" button and close the OpenVPN installation window.

     

6. Once you open the OpenVPN Connect app, you must Agree to the app’s permissions to proceed with the setup.

     

 

Import VPN Configuration File and Connect

     

1. Select the "Upload File" option and then, click on the "Browse" button to find the specific config file you want to import.

     

2. Select the ChitaVPN .ovpn file from the window that appears and Click the "Open" button to import the selected file.

     

 

3. In this part Enter your Username, Password, choose the save password option and click on the Connect button.

     

4. When you see this connection status on your screen, it means that you are connected to the ChitaVPN servers.

     

 

Turn on Kill Switch & Block IPv6

     

These settings help keep your VPN secure and prevent network leaks.

     

1. Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top-left and go to Settings.

     

2. Enable the 'Seamless Tunnel' option to ensure your VPN connection stays active even when switching between networks.

     

3. Click on 'Advanced Settings' at the bottom of the screen and Click the 'Confirm' button to proceed.

     

4. Select Yes to Block IPv6, forcing traffic over IPv4 only. Then "Tap the back arrow" to return.
